Congrats. [23 May 2009|05:25pm]
In the event anyone is reading this. Congratulations to the class of 2009. I can't believe it's already over.

I'll be here another semester myself, but I hope that all of your lives pan out exactly how you want them too.

No one uses livejournal anymore (who would have thought?), but I'll leave this group open and see how it weathers the sands of time.

Questions about Binghamton [20 Dec 2007|02:05am]
My name is: Burgundy
People call me: Burgundy
I'm from: Schenectady, New York
I'm attending (Harpur, Watson, Decker...): I'm still in high school, but I'm applying to Binghamton. (Hope that's okay.)
My major is (or "I think my major is..."): Environmental Science or something similar.
Favorite book/movie/tv show: I like a lot of books, but specifically memoirs. Movie: I'm also a movie buff, but I'll pick Stand By Me. I like watching Forensic Files.
School clubs/teams/sports: Newspaper, Students Against Destructive Decisions, The Outdoors Club, Litmag
General interests or other interesting facts about you (unusual abilities, hobbies, politics, pets, etc.): I'm currently obssessed with Spoken Word Poetry.

I'm asking a list of questions, because I just want to know as much as I can about the colleges I'm applying to. Any help is greatly appreciated.

1) I'm leaning toward majoring in environmental science/conservation biology. What are the science programs like?

2) I'm your average hippie liberal (minus some stereotypes), will I find like-minded people?

3) What are the chances of me finding fun things to do without getting drunk/high?

4) What is the area outside of the college like? Any fun things to do?

5) Are the people generally nice or mean?

6) If, in the future, I was to try and find an apartment in the surrounding area, how expensive are they / how hard is it to get one?

7) Are you allowed cars your first year? (I'd like to have the chance to travel home.)

8) Has your personal experience been mostly positive or negative?

9) Lastly, any major positive/negative things about the school, or any other random things care to share?

Roomate letters. [08 Aug 2006|04:30pm]

Okay, so here's the post for it, so it doesn't get annoying, not that anyone has posted about it yet.

So, has anyone recieved their roomate letters yet? I am only asking because I moved into an empty room by myself on a closed floor, but I am fearing for my life that someone I really hate signed up for the free space hastily before realizing how much I disliked them.

AH! So yeah, just wondering.

There was a poster on the Monday board in the Union saying "Don't buy gas on Monday the 15th! We'll stick it to 'em evil gas companies for sure!"

I then proceeded to use the poster as a target while I banged my forehead on the wall.

That one never ceases to hurt my brain.

I'm pretty late here, but I've just discovered it, and I'm a spring freshman. I actually was accepted into Binghamton first, but (via a screw up courtesy of my guidance counselor -- THANKS!) for the spring semester. I attended CUNY Hunter for the fall semester, and hated it, so I'm really glad to finally be here. =D I don't know if people still check here, but it's worth a shot, right? =D I had originally requested a chemical-free floor, but that didn't work out *sigh*. But it's all good. I'm liking it here so far, although the weather is pretty weird here. As you can imagine it's pretty tough being a spring transfer, so I'm taking the initiative, and I think this is a step...kinda. Are there any good clubs that I can join? Do people here join clubs???

Oh, and I'm currently taking
HIST 280J 9.40-10.40, MWF
GERM 241B 2.20-3.20 MWF
HDEV 105 3.30-5.30 W
ENG 114F 5.50-7.15 MW
PHIL202 10.05-11.30 T,R
ENG114F (D) 8.30-9.30 (AM!) F

See ya,
Leanne :)

hey, me and 4 girls live in a 6-person suite in oneida, and we're looking to see if anyone wants to move in (ASAP) for this semester. we're kinda loud and like to go out but also have some quiet study time. if you're interested, send me a message stat.

AIM: lildmbgurli

just so you guys know, we're all sophomores and none of us are living on campus next year (we sign our UP lease tomorrow!!) so it would only be for this semester. if you just wanna live in a cool suite, on an awesome floor and make some friends (we love new people), let me know, but we have to know really soon.

(X-posted to bingers) [20 Dec 2005|07:45pm]

So I was bored at work today, and my mind has been on zombies lately, and I was trying to figure out:

Where on campus will I seek saftey when the zombies arise?

The buildings here are kind of crappy in that they have entrances from outside on several floors.

I was thinking that, if you could find the right group of people to clear the upper floors of it, the top of the library tower would work. However, it's got the bells on top, and that would probably attract the horde.

Mountainview isn't that secure, neither is CIW, and you'd have to oust all the student-zombies. EB is confusing enough that regular humans get lost in it, so if you barricaded yourself in the right manner, that might not be too bad.

Where will you go when hell is full?

Does anyone have an old Verizon phone they don't need? Mine's broken and I can get a quickie replacement just by getting an old phone and transferring the number, so I have something to use before I go home and get a new phone.

Read Your Work on BTV [09 Nov 2005|06:25pm]

Hey guys!

My name is dana and i'm the social VP for the new harpur palate undergrad group. If you haven't heard of Harpur Palate, we're a national literary journal started by bing graduate students. We're running a bunch of events in the near future but this is a really cool one:

we have a new show on BTV and we are having an open call for people to read their work or work that they love on TV. Think of it like an open mic that can be seen by the whole campus. We would love you guys to do any kind of reading, be it slam, performance, or just reading something you're proud of.

We want to put the first episode together quickly, so if you're interested, please email me at danaspeaks@gmail.com

thanks guys, i hope you'll be performing, watching, or both!

Just thought I would make a note here that in places they are advertising a barbeque on the Peace Quad sometime this weekend (for Homecoming) as "FREE FOOD" but it's actually $8 per person and you can get a free smoothie....so don't get tricked...
